How NY Open Mics verifies listings

We check web evidence such as a venue’s own site, calendar, or official social post, and use venue confirmation when available. “Active” means current evidence supports the listing. “Unverified” means we cannot yet establish current operation. “Reported Closed” means credible evidence says the room or series has closed.

Cadence and two clocks

High-change records are revisited more often and the wider catalog is reviewed on a rolling cadence. The build date tells you when this page was generated; last_verified tells you when a listing’s evidence was checked.

Checked dates are evidence timestamps, not guarantees of tonight’s operation.

Closed-venue tripwire

A closure report triggers a targeted recheck before the status changes. We look for first-party closure notices, calendar disappearance, replacement businesses, and direct venue confirmation, while avoiding automatic deletion that would erase useful history.

Honest limits

Schedules, hosts, prices, and sign-up rules can change without notice. Web evidence can lag reality, and venues may not answer. Confirm before traveling.
